Eureka has made grinders in Florence since 1920. Most of its catalogue is built for cafés, where a grinder runs all day and has to hold its setting through a morning rush. The part most home baristas meet is the Mignon line: compact espresso grinders small enough to fit under a kitchen cabinet, built with the same priorities.
The Mignon range shares one body and splits by what it adds. The Specialità is the core model, with flat burrs, a timer with programmable doses and a small touch display. The Silenzio is the simpler model, named for what the whole range is known for. The Libra doses by weight rather than by time, so a dose stays the same when the beans change. The Single Dose model drops the hopper for people who weigh each dose and switch coffees often.
What they are good at. Two things. The adjustment is stepless and micrometric: a dial on top moves the burrs in increments too small to count, which is what espresso needs when the right setting falls between the clicks of a stepped grinder. And they are quiet, thanks to sound-insulated bodies, which matters in a flat at seven in the morning.
What to know before buying. These are espresso grinders first. Stepless adjustment is a gift at the fine end and a chore when you swap to filter, because getting from an espresso setting to a pour-over one takes a lot of turning and a fresh search on the way back. The hopper models also hold a little coffee in the chute, so a few grams of the previous dose ride along unless you purge.
Who it suits. Someone with one espresso machine, one coffee at a time, and a kitchen where noise and counter space both matter. For where a Mignon sits against cheaper and dearer options, choosing an espresso grinder and the espresso grinders hub set it in context.
